a painting in progress -- cherry millions
As a warm-up for the day's portrait painting I have been working on a series of small and fun canvases: everything from tiny landscapes to things like this painting of cherry tomatoes, where form and contrast, design and color are given their day. It's a nice break from skin tones and allows me to experiment in a way that is best not done with people's noses!'
Vegetables make wonderful subjects in general, as the shapes and colors are very interesting, and they have personalities of their own. This painting will be realistic, however I am going to have some fun with abstract shapes as I go along.
